Artistic views of Kaiserslautern by Sophie Innmann, Nikolaus Koliusis, Elisabeth Neudörfl and Erik Sturm

When you hear “Kaiserslautern”, you think of soccer and the “Betze”. Nothing else ensures greater identification with the city. The Pfaff sewing machine factory had an equally decisive influence on the self-image of the “imperial city” and, after 1945, the Americans. Their military presence in nearby Ramstein links the city directly to world events.
At the invitation of the mpk, four artists are exploring “K-Town”: Innmann, Koliusis, Neudörfl and Sturm open up new perspectives on an exciting urban location that is in the midst of a transformation from a working-class town to a pioneering technology hub. The exhibition reflects the living environments of the people of Lauterer and highlights contemporary urban processes.
