150 Years of Collection and Inspiration
In the 150 years of its history, the museum has built up a remarkable and nationally relevant collection of paintings, graphic art, sculpture and applied art. The museum is presenting a selection of these treasures in this collection display. A central room to your right provides insight into the history of the mpk’s collection.
We invite you to take three tours.
The first tour asks the question “What is art?” What makes a masterpiece? Why do people create art? These are some of the questions you can explore here.
The second tour “People in art” provides connections to the world we live in: How do we see ourselves as individuals? What relationships shape our lives? What roles do we play in society?
Experience “Art with all your senses” in the north wing to your left. Sharpen your perception and immerse yourself emotionally in the artworks.
